The Ron Paul Drama Continues....

Please note: I'm not a Ron Paul supporter.

Used to be that you couldn't start any threads about Ron Paul. All sorts of excuses were used to justify it - most centering around the supposed "army of spammers" that were going to inevitably flood the boards.

Then, after the outcry regarding this decision, the mods decided that there could be one RP thread on the main page at a time.

Then, they started merging any RP-related topics into one completely useless, indecipherable monster of a thread.

I guess I'm a little late in noticing, but it seems now you simply can't even talk about him. Note the "HiJacking of other threads to promote Paul discussion will be considered a violation." This is a not-so-cleverly-coded way of saying that if RP becomes the topic of (favorable) conversation, you will get banned. I'm guessing that a lot of thought and heady philosophical debate amongst the moderators went into this one.

I'm not entirely sure why that genius Lee Kington has such a beef with RP supporters, but he sure as hell doesn't make any effort to pretend it's not personal.

Sticks and Stones...

Just so we're all caught up, the rules are:

You MAY NOT call anyone a Nazi, but calling someone a "feminazi" is fine. You are allowed to claim someone is a bigot, but under no circumstances may you call someone a kook. Though you may call someone a bigot, you're not allowed to call them racist. We're waiting to hear whether calling someone a loon is verboten. No, seriously.

If there's any misunderstanding about what may or may not pass muster, Goodlife will magically decipher the intent of the poster. No, seriously.

I swear - a room full of monkeys could come up with a more rationally applicable system than the stuff these guys just continually pull out of their asses.

Oooooh, looks like an excellent time to start!

So "MenigLBC" (a liberal, according to popular opinion) was banned today for using the acronym "GFY". Of course we can all imagine what that means, right? And we all know that there's a very strict policy about foul/abusive language, right?

Well, another poster pointed out that one of the main moderators "Goodlife" has herself used that exact same acronym on the message boards. Did she apologize? Did she admit error? Did they admit they were hasty in the banning? Did they reinstate MenigLBC?

Of course not. They said unless you're "part of her group" (to which "GFY" supposedly has a special, inside joke meaning), you can't use the phrase on the forum. But she and her friends still can. She's a moderator.

As of this post, MenigLBC is still banned. Will s/he grovel for reinstatement? Will the mods admit they are making it up as they go along? Stay tuned!

'Tis a Silly Place

As a member of the Hannity forums, I've noticed over time that it is a very silly place. I'm not referring to the crazy-ass political rants, or commenting on the host himself - I knew what I was getting into upon signing up. It's more the soap opera and the teenage drama that this is about.

I intend to use this space as a way for fellow forumites (be they active or banned, conservative or liberal) to keep up to date with all the unfolding drama and hijinx, and to speak freely without fear of the playground retribution which is unfortunately all too common at that site. Let the games begin!
